As long as i get to keep my copy of "the origin of the species" and all the biochemistry/molecular biology books i got, you can read the quran for all i care. Obviously i don't. Censorship is not a valid argument...

No, Darwin named his book. "on the origin of the species and the preservation of the favored races". They made sure to take that out of the Title in later additions. You know like one of you rationalized That you agree with Marx, but not the murder part. That's like saying I like the atomic bomb, just not the radiation part. As for the books, throw them away, your mind is already made up, you won't learn anything you don't agree with. Quran is man made yarn. It is what you try to say of the Bible. But I don't hear you guys bashing your buddies. only Christians.

Darwin, as a scientist, used the term "race" in the correct biological sense - "an actually or potentially interbreeding group within a species."

By that definition, all human beings belong to the same race. The non-scientific concept of race, based on skin colour, is an artificial construct - and not what Darwin was referring to.

Come on, this is stuff most 10th graders know.

Biology and taxonomy aren't really my main areas of scientific interest, but from what I could remember/find "race" is typically used in biology as a synonym for "subspecies." And it also seems that there's a fair amount of debate on whether different human races (in the coloquial sense) are truly different subspecies, either from genetic or morphological standpoints.

E.g., one quote I came across in a WP article:

"It is often stated that human genetic variation is low compared to other mammalian species, and it has been claimed that this should be taken as evidence that there is no natural subdivision of the human population."

Then again, astronomy and cosmology are the only scientific topics I really stay current on (other than CS) - so I could be talking out my arse.

that would make sense because our populations aren't isolated anymore.

in essence we poured all our variation into a large genepool, instead of smaller isolated ones. in a way we are "breeding out race" with our continuious intraracial mingling.

but between populations that have stayed solated, like people in papua new guinni and say....some small town in rural england.

there is quite some variation, even if it's only on the expression level.

That would essentially make atheism the norm, in the neutral sense of "abstaining from belief in God or gods." Or "non-theism" if you want a more neutral term.
