So, tomorrow my university is holding a symposium about faith and darwin. I'm planning on going, but i thought it would be nice to share the ad for it so you could see how we stand towards creationists issues.
"Poster for the Darwin Symposium
The idea of this
mini-symposium is to provide a somewhat different picture of Darwin and
the legacy of him than those during the year have met us in the media
as well as in parts of the academy. By combining discussion inclined
scientists, humanists, social scientists and theologians, we want to
deepen the understanding of each tradition's approach to Darwinism, and
respond to some of the prejudices that abound, such as that one can not
be a Christian and believe that evolutionary theory is a sensible
explanation for the species' development.
Furthermore, we
show that while Darwinism is very viable in certain scientific
traditions, so it is no longer used at all in the second and the
symposium is intended in part to a discussion between these two
approaches. What is it that makes impossible to understand zooecology
without evolutionary theory in its present form while in parts of the
humanities and social sciences no longer want to hear about
evolutionary models of explanation? What some consider the evolutionary
theory is best-ever idea while others say it is of both scientific
research and political reasons can not be used in the analysis of human
behavior?"
Note, there is only professors of the university and some from other colleges that talks and no creationist is invited since no one has the qualifications! :D
Well you get the picture...
