If being a creationist means believing in the literal interpretation of the Bible, I can’t help but wonder what your views are on some of the corrupt and immoral passages about the role of women.

The Bible clearly states that women are inferior, and must submit to their husbands. It also suggests that rape is acceptable, and the primary purpose of females is to provide men with sex (it specifically says in Corinthians that men were not created for women, women were created for men). Other parts of the Bible deem women as “unclean”, “evil” and the cause of all sin. Women are instructed to remain silent, and never ask questions in church. If she has a question, she is to ask her husband in the privacy of their home.

A lot of these ideals still hold true in modern religion, where only men are permitted to be priests, bishops and popes. Also, many religions highly value the traditional family structure in which the submissive wife stays home raising children and cooking meals.

I don’t consider myself a feminist, but I do believe in equality between the genders. Men are not superior to women, and should not have the right to pretend that they are. So just out of curiosity, what is the creationist view on this issue?

1 CORINTHIANS Chapter 7:3 Let the husband render unto the wife due benevolence: and LIKEWISE also the wife unto the husband.
4 The wife hath not power of her own body, but the husband: and LIKEWISE also the husband hath not power of his own body, but the wife.

Likewise means "same for" in this verse. So it's equality.

"But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God." (I Corinthians 11:3)

"Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in everything." (Ephesians 5:22-24)

The Ephesians quote does go on to say that husbands should love their wives, which is consistent with your first quote. However the word “submit” appears to be reserved for wives, whereas husbands are simply asked to treat their wives with respect.
It’s nice to know that at least a few parts of the Bible promote equality, but that doesn’t make up for all the times it doesn’t. So what’s your opinion on those parts, where women are told not to speak and are presented as inferior and less intelligent?

Where does it say that women are less intelligent. The Bible also says "men love your wives as CHrist loves the CHurch." And CHrist died for people who become the church.

“Where does it say that women are less intelligent.”

To me that was just implied. 1 Corinthians 14:34 states that women are not allowed to speak in church, but should instead wait until they get home and ask their husbands any questions they might have. A women who speaks in church is described as “disgraceful”. Men, on the other hand, are encouraged to speak in tongues and share “revelations” that they might have.

Also, women are not allowed to hold positions of power in the church. I think most religions are like this, however the example most familiar to me is Catholicism. If women are regarded as equals to men, then why is there a law against female priests, bishops, and popes?

yes

"So it's equality."

no

why?

it says nothing about what her rights are.
not enough evidence to make that conclusion.

Here’s a joke Kent Hovind told, which essentially says that if your wife doesn’t cook your dinner, you should beat her:

“This guy comes home from work, "Hi Honey, what's for supper?" "Whatever you're fixing." You know, she just got back from one of those meetings, those femi-nazi meetings. He said, "Honey, the house is kind of a mess, have you been busy today?" She said, "If you don't like it you clean it up." This went on for ten minutes. And finally he said, "How would you like to not see me for a week?" She said, "That would be fine with me." And sure enough on the the seventh day her left eye started to open just a little bit.”

So again, what is the creationist opinion on this?

I looked up 1 corinthians 14:34. The scholars in my study Bible say it's pertaining to speaking in tongues. Because 1 cor. 11:4-5 says, "Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonoureth his head.
5 But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoureth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven." This shows that women are allowed to speak and even prophesy in public.

As for Hovind's jokes, I wouldn't say those. But I don't get hurt when either sex makes jokes about each other. I take it with a grain of salt.

Really what it comes down to is how Jesus treated women. Just look at the example of Jesus and the women caught in adultery.

I don’t generally take offense in jokes like that. If that joke had been told by someone else, I might even find it funny. The thing is, Hovind interprets the Bible literally. And while there may be some very positive messages in the Bible, there is also a lot of undeniable sexism. And again, why can’t women hold positions of power in the church?

I think I know what your talking about but which verse is it? I go to an Assemblies of GOD Church. Have you heard of Joyce Meyers? She is the head pastor of her church, which is also an Assemblies of GOD Church. So yes we take the Bible seriously, but we also try to be careful and not become legalistic like Jesus accused the Pharisees of being. The Jews were not to work on the Sabbath, But Jesus said, "If your cattle fell in a mud pool would you not work to get him out (on the Sabbath)?" He said we are to do good on the Sabbath. GOD cares more about getting people saved than a women becoming the head of a church. Joyce Meyers brings many people to GOD and even many prisoners in her prison ministry. She's very famous among evangelicals. Here, check her out. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zWfSZ9hp2G0&feature=PlayList&p=CD3CDA22CEEB09C5&playnext=1&playnext_from=PL&index=1
