Ninnies

This will be a fun test.

Okay here is a list of 13 names. See if you can pick out the 12 tribes of Israel. Just to make it super fair, I will list alternate spellings because I know Brother Trucker is concerned about my abilities going from Hebrew to Greek. ;)

Reuben
Simeon
Levi
Judah
Zebulun (Zebulon)
Issachar
Dan
Gad
Asher (Aser)
Nephtali (Nephthalim)
Joseph
Manasseh (Manasses)
Benjamin

If you want to find the answer look in Genesis 49, Numbers 1, Numbers 13, Deuteronomy 33, Ezekiel 48, and Revelation 7.

For added fun look at all of those and make a list to compare.

Good thing internal consistancy is not required.

Originally, the twelve tribes were twelve sons of Jacob: Joseph, Judah, Issachar, Benjamin, Levi, Naphtali, Gad, Asher, Simeon, Dan, Zebulun, Reuben. But later, Jacob told Joseph that he would treat Joseph's two sons, Manasseh and Ephraim, as his own. At that time, those two tribes replaced Joseph and Levi of the Twelve.

Right, because of Joseph's grievance his son's were treated. And Levi received cities and not provinces to pursuit service in the ministry.

Then why are Levi and Joseph listed in Ezekiel and Revelation?

It must be one of those "God is timeless" so it doesn't have to be consistent cases.

I haven't looked it up yet but it's probably because they're still honored in Heaven.

And that is why Levi is listed in Deuteronomy but Simeon is not.

Keep going and eventually you will realize how flawed the writtings are. It is to be expected.

Actually I was referring to Deuteronomy Chapter 33. You are right I should be more clear because the books are not even internally consistent not to mention the Bible as a whole.
