After several months of neglection, I would be among the first to acknowledge that this forum is beginning to show signs of dilapidation. I have been focusing on too many other projects, and let not only the proverbial grass - but weeds - grow under my feet.

No longer.

I am developing several new PlexPedia organizational tools that will make it much easier for me to stay on top of everything, and from now on, this forum will be moderated.

I just added a PlexPedia feature that allows me to remove threads at the click of a button, and all the pointless, nonproductive threads on FreeHovind will begin to disappear over the next couple days. (Items I remove are still in PlexPedia's database - they are just not accessible via the site - so don't worry about information being irretrievably lost). I am also developing tools to efficiently censor individual comments, and once PlexPedia reaches a sufficient size, I may implement a "Digg style" threshold viewing system.

Those of you who have been wasting your time trashing this forum: beware. Those of you with integrity, who are honestly seeking truth: rejoice!

-Aubrey]]> Fri, 10 Oct 2008 02:58:57 +0000 <![CDATA[News: Updated downloads page - No more broken links...]]> Ever since Google Video dropped compatibility for several useful features they used to support that enhanced their video downloading capabilities, the FreeHovind download page has suffered from quite a few broken links and other bugs.

The downloads page is now working perfectly again, and should be more intuitive and easier to use than ever before!
There are now only two video formats to choose from, and a concise explanation of each is provided at the top of the page.

Below are some new features recently introduced to FreeHovind.
On top of everything you see below, ATIServer, which powers FreeHovind, has also had TONS of recent upgrades - which will be covered in a soon to come announcement.

The FreeHovind petition currenly has  1,917 signatures, and the site has over 222,000 views.
Praise the Lord! 

 

  • Home Page Tune Ups:
    • "About" text has been streamlined, "Sections" have been consolidated to the FreeHovind areas in which new users would be most interested, and the "Petition" button now has a live signature count.
  • Video Viewing:
    • The "Watch" page has been greatly enhanced; the two most notable features being that the video listings automatically expand to two columns when there is no video selected, and that videos with a "-" sign in their id no longer crash things (Thanks to everyone who reported :)
  • Petition Enhancements:
    • A handy new "Email A Friend" feature has been added, and the "More Ways to help Hovind" section has been streamlined.
  • Forum Upgrades:
    • The Forum categories have been organized a bit better, and (along with the other ATIServer upgrades), the styling on many graphical elements has been fine tuned. There is also a new "ATI Network" category which is automatically shared between all ATI Network sites, and which will be used for organized bug reporting and nework wide announcements.

 

Note: Google video appears to have recently changed their downloading system, and consequently many of the links on the download page are broken. I will let everyone know when this is fixed!

I sincerely apologize for disappearing for so long.

I have been participating in Vision Forum's Jamestown 400 celebration and national treasure hunt (And incidentally made top 100 finalist :-), and right now am nearing the end of a several week trip trip the east coast. I have received many emails and suggestions from FreeHovind supporters, and I really appreciate them!

Unfortunately, my computer died as I was getting started on writing replies :-)
I am not sure if it is a hardware or software issue, but I can't even get it to boot using every trick I know...

Once I get back home (hopefully within a week), I will be able to get my laptop working again and will finish replying to all the email I have received and continue improving FreeHovind.

The site has been doing great in my absence! The petition topped 500 signatures a day or two ago, we are coming up on 70,000 page views, and FreeHovind is now on the front page of Google's search results for "Kent Hovind".
I am also very appreciative of the official CSE Blog, who mentioned the FreeHovind petition in their moist recent post titled "Update".

P.S. Some things we can be discussing:

  1. Should the printed petition include comments left by signers, or just their names and other details?
  2.  What else does the site need? Among other things, I am thinking of designing some printable bumper stickers :-)
  3. How can we help people spread the petition? Would an "Email a Friend" feature be helpful? How about an "Email a representative" one?
  4. What else can we put on the "Info" page? (Sorry Alaina - I WILL be getting back to you soon :-)

As you may know, a while back a Hovind supporter posted a link to FreeHovind in the links section of the WikiPedia article on Kent Hovind.  Quite a few people came from the link, and I have had several people contact me and say how thankful they were for the site who found FreeHovind on WikiPedia.

Recently, some of the WikiPedia editors decided FreeHovind was "useless", and removed the link.
I defended FreeHovind on WikiPedia, and as I write this the FreeHovind link has just been posted to the "Request For Comments" system of WikiPedia which is a part of the dispute resolution precess.

Along with a much more intuitive "multi column list" view, I have also added links to all the seminars as full quality DVDs avaliable through BitTorrent.

It is open to anyone to read, while commenting and posting requires (easy and free) registration and a request for permission from the admin.

The forum's main purpose is to allow Hovind supporters to share ideas and keep track of the latest news.
If you have any ideas for the site or forum, please post them! I will do my best to add any features that people request.

In the near future I will be adding details on a FreeHovind petition that is in the works.
In the mean time, enjoy the new forum!
